DISTANCE NO BARRIER FOR JULIE – from Charlie Bannerman

Spotting Julie’s comment on the Baxters results reminded me of something that deserves more than a little exposure as well.
Last Wednesday night, Julie Wilson travelled by car and train to an evening meeting in Doncaster in South Yorkshire where she recorded a very respectable 5:57 in the 1500 steeplechase.
This, however, is no way as eccentric as it might first seem since SC races are very difficult to come by and Julie badly needed a run out before she leaves at the end of October for the World Vets’ Championships in Australia where she will be doing the W 45-49 1500SC, 1500 and 400.
Just to round off that story, Julie then took the train back to Edinburgh and drove home to Inverness where she arrived at 3am on Thursday. By 7am she was on early shift and by 7pm was down at the club where she is also one of the coaches with our young endurance athletes.

CLUB MEMBERSHIPS AND HANDICAPS

The first club handicap isn’t all that far away – Sunday October 16th with entries open, as usual, at the club hut from 1pm. Holm Course for seniors and riverside/whin park course for juniors.

Club memberships are also become due for renewal on October 1st and updated forms, if not available at the AGM, will appear very soon after. There is a two month period of grace for renewals.

IMPORTANT – if you are born after 31st August 2000, the club will, as usual, do your SAL membership for you. However the club do not renew SAL memberships until club memberships have been renewed so, if your SAL membership expires in October or November, renew your club membership early to avoid your SAL one expiring.
