Harriers Junior Boys take all 3 Medals at XC Relays
It wasn’t quite the clean sweep of last year but it was a good days work for the club in the North cross county relays. The news on the venue to be held in Edderton was well received with East Sutherland known for providing a excellent course and they yet again did themselves proud. The testing but very runnable course made excellent spectating on a warm bright day with 3 main climbs and 2 burn crossings of up to 4k in length for the seniors. First up were the junior girls who took an excellent silver behind Moray road runners helped round by Rachel Johnstone, Megan Keith and Rebecca Johnstone. The junior boys took and amazing Gold, Silver and bronze with Duncan Macdonald, Kieran Chalmers and James Geddes finishing top. Lucus Cairns, Craig Wilson and Alex Geddes taking silver and Ewan Rollo, Ben Johnstone and Aidan Ferry managed the 3rd team spot.
The seniors had some last minute rejigging due to some 11th hour injuries and pull outs but still obtained and fair haul with the Ladies battling to the line. Roma Shepard, Alison Wilson and finally Sarah Lebs narrowly missed out on a silver with a sprint finish and Sarah a yard behind Rhona Grant finishing for HHR. It was still and excellent bronze with Forres Harriers taking Gold. The Senior men had a convincing win with Craig Campbell breaking into the lead at mile 1 and the from there the team were never tested. Andrew Macrae, Donnie Macdonald and Gordon Lennox finished the job of to make it two years in a row as North Champs. The icing on the cake came from the news that the Veteran men’s team of Paul Davidson, Ian Macdonald, Keith Geddes and Graeme Campbell managed an excellent Silver which rounded of the day nicely. Well done to all the others who competed and our friends at ESAC for putting on a cracking event. Full results will be here when available.
