Inverness Return to Division 1
Inverness made its return to the top flight of Scottish track and field competition this weekend. After a lengthy absence the newly promoted team travelled to Grangemouth stadium for the first 2014 Division 1 meeting. The Division 2 champions were not at their strongest with several key athletes missing but never the less secured a 6th place finish keeping them clear of dreaded relegation spots and 2 points behind Edinburgh AC.
Some outstanding performances on the day came from Stephen Mackay (4.03.43) winning the 1500m A race beating Robert Russell of Central (4.05.94). Craig Campbell ran a PB and finished 2nd in the B race in 4.11.12. Adam Hobson was in fine form with a PB of 23.64 and 2nd place behind Michael Olson Edinburgh Ac (22.77) and them throwing 47.08 he managed 2nd in the Javelin with Drew Spark-witworth winning the B event in 38.45. Eoghan Macnamara ran in 2nd in the 400m hurdles A race in 60.64 with a PB for his efforts. William Godding jumped 12.43 to take second in the triple jump A event with Chris Mollison winner the B event in 11.75. The day was finished with a third place in the 4 X 100m relay with a 45.22 and a new club PB.
With 3 matches left there is plenty hard work to come but it was a great start for the lads.
